Completion of Dementia-friendly wayfinding project in Khatib Central
The Nee Soon Town Council organised a tree planting ceremony to mark the completion of IMMORTAL Singapore's Dementia-friendly wayfinding project in Khatib Central recently, with Carrie Tan, MP for Nee Soon GRC, officiating the event. A rubber tree was chosen as a nod to Nee Soon Village’s history as a rubber estate.
The wayfinding project was created to foster ageing in place by helping the elderly and those afflicted with dementia to easily navigate the neighbourhood. Recognisable icons like pineapples and Chinese gateways are displayed prominently on buildings, and are also colour coded so as to make them easily recognisable from afar.
This project was also featured by Zaobao.sg earlier this month.
